
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the Budget 2025-26 in the state Assembly today, emphasizing education as a key focus area for the newly elected BJP government. Calling it a “historic day,” Gupta said the budget is not just about finances but a “vision for Viksit Dilli.”
Major Allocations in the Education Sector
The Delhi government has allocated ₹100 crore for the establishment of new ‘CM Shri Schools’ to enhance the quality of education in the city. Additionally, a ₹750 crore fund has been earmarked to provide free laptops to 1,200 students who pass Class X, aiming to boost digital learning.
Gupta also announced ₹100 crore for setting up 175 new computer labs and smart classes across government schools. “Under the free laptop scheme, 1,200 students transitioning from Class 10 to 11 will receive laptops,” she stated.
New Talent Hunt & Language Labs
A Talent Hunt Scheme will be launched in Delhi with an initial allocation of ₹5 crore to identify and support young talent. Furthermore, the government has planned 100 language labs in government schools, named after APJ Abdul Kalam, with a provision of ₹21 crore.
Boost to Art, Culture & Regional Languages
The budget for the Maithili and Bhojpuri Academy has been increased to ₹6 crore, while a total of ₹139 crore has been allocated for promoting art and culture in the city.
Narela to Become an Education Hub
In a major push for higher education, the Delhi government will develop Narela as an education hub, with ₹618 crore allocated for the project. Additionally, a sports university will be established in Delhi to promote athletic talent.
The budget reflects the BJP government’s commitment to strengthening education infrastructure and fostering academic excellence in the national capital.
