Mumbai: The will of Ratan Tata, one of India’s most respected business leaders, has reportedly included a no-contest clause, a provision that could have serious financial consequences for anyone who chooses to challenge it. According to sources familiar with the matter, this clause ensures that any beneficiary or heir disputing the will risks losing their entire inheritance. Such clauses are commonly used to prevent legal conflicts and uphold the deceased’s final wishes, ensuring a smooth and undisrupted execution of the will.
Beyond this significant legal safeguard, the distribution of Tata’s assets has also drawn attention. His will reportedly allocates one-third of his financial properties, including bank fixed deposits (FDs), financial instruments, watches, and paintings—valued at approximately ₹800 crore—to his half-sisters, Shireen Jejeebhoy and Deanna Jejeebhoy. This inheritance reflects Tata’s close ties with his family members, ensuring that they receive a substantial share of his personal wealth.
Another one-third of his financial assets has been bequeathed to Mohini M Dutta, a former Tata Group employee who shared a deep bond with him.
